P2

A) purpose

The purpose of the show is to both inform and entertain. How they both use these two purposes through their characters. The show manages to inform for it's setting being centered in Hollywood, where the stereotype of it being perfect and full of perfect people is destroyed in this show, presenting Hollywood not to be all joyful as it's said to be. But the show still entertains by creating a relatable main cast which can fit in with any viewer, and the show manages to entertain by showing the audience these cast of characters in what the true nature of Hollywood actually is.

B) genre

From the beginning of season 1 the show was set out to act as more of a comedy than it is a drama, the show started with just presenting comedy and then only half way through the first season did the shows genre drastically change into more of a drama but still containing a comedy aspect of the show.

C) form

'Bojack Horseman' is a ongoing animated series mainly consisting in rigged puppet style animation. The show always presents with some sort of a cliffhanger at each end of the season to show the audience of how to series is still to continue. Currently there are 4 seasons of 'Bojack Horseman' each season containing 12 episodes and one special in between season 1 and 2; making up to 49 episodes since it's release, and each episode having a running time of around 25-26 minutes.

D) style

The show is entirely animated and has to be for it's world containing humans and humanized animals. The show is set in California, it's main location being in Los Angles but does still have other locations set in California. The shows location and colour style add to the stereotypes of what Hollywood is set up to be, but acts more as a juxtaposition to the themes and characters the show presents. The theme of meaning is shown through all of the main cast, and we are shown how each character treats this theme similarly, but still containing there unique feelings that make them stand out from the rest of the cast.

E) content

The series is based around the main character and name of the show 'Bojack Horseman', who is a washed up celebrity trying to get back into is acting carer after being in a popular family sitcom 'Horsin' Around'. The shows other main cast consists of characters called: Todd, Diane, Princess Carolyn and Mr. Peanut butter. While the shows main goal is for Bojack to be a celebrity again its not only focused around him, the show takes dark turns into emotions and fears such as meaning and identity within each character.

F) meaning

The purpose is to reveal the stereotypes that HollyWood creates to make everything seem perfect through it's bright colours and happy characters. However, in Bojack Horseman it ruins the name HollyWood has created for itself through the cast of the show. The form mixes with it's purpose for it obviously being an animated show containing talking animals
which is the reason for it being animated. And these two both mix well with the content of what the show creates, the purpose is shown fully throughout the show, and it's use of animation allows to exaggerate these opinions by having more freedom on expressing them. Rather than it being a simple made sitcom it allows the viewer to think through it's philosophical and intellectual opinions through the formate of a situation comedy.
